Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus Objective
Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus Objective
Our dedication to Cymraeg 2050 is prominently reflected in our school vision, where fostering Welsh language proficiency and raising its profile is a key priority. The Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus serves as a pivotal tool, offering a centralised and structured framework for both primary and secondary schools. This framework acts as a guiding force, aiding schools in realising and actively contributing to the ambitious goals outlined in Cymraeg 2050. Through the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus, we ensure that our commitment to enhancing the Welsh language is not only sustained but also systematically implemented for a comprehensive and effective impact.
The simple objective of the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children in a whole school context. The Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus’ main aim is to promote a strong Welsh ethos in schools and to provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh. It exhorts participation from every member of the school community, and members of the school workforce and council, the pupils and their parents, school governors and the wider community are all encouraged to take full ownership of it. The Criw Cymraeg are instrumental in leading and driving the Welsh Language Charter forward.
Criw Cymraeg
Our Criw Cymraeg is comprised of students across several year groups, guided by our enthusiastic Welsh A-level pupils. They convene weekly on Mondays after school to collaboratively explore strategies for promoting bilingualism at Ysgol Gyfun Bryntirion. The Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus will serve as a foundational framework for the Criw Cymraeg to build upon. They will utilise this structure to guide and enhance the development of bilingualism across the entire school community.
Gwob Arian/Silver Award
We are very proud to say that as of October 2025, we have received the award for the Siarter Iaith Gwobr Arian (Welsh Language Charter Silver Award). This displays our commitment as a school and community to promote our Diwylliant (Culture) and Hunaniaeth (Identity) as Cymry (Welsh people). Our Criw Cymraeg and Bilingualism team have worked hard to get this award and continue to promote Cymraeg at Bryntirion, to achieve the Gwobr Aur/Gold Award in due course.
